Being of southern Indian origin, I was keen to get a grasp of those flavours my grandmothers could produce with quite humble ingredients and basic equipment. I've never tasted, yet cooked myself such nutritious food that was even on a par with this for nearly 25 years. Well done me (us, we came as a couple, and the other couple we buddied up with) and Food@52! Fantastic teachers. Brilliant! Can't wait to bring the kids with us when they're older. Oh, don't bother about dinner plans after...

It’s an Indian cooking class and a meal out

Like all our London hands-on cookery classes, our Southern Indian cooking classes include all food, equipment, and unlimited specially selected red and white wine and soft drinks.

You will prepare the dishes around our oak banquet table and enjoy eating together in the most sociable way in London.

For the full day class, the first part of the day will be tutor led in our usual style with you guided through each step of the recipes. For the latter part (or the evening class) we hand over the reins to you, where in each group you create dishes from recipe cards. As there are several dishes with similar bases, each group creates slightly different dishes from each other that everyone enjoys together at the end.

I got this course as a Christmas present and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food we cooked in groups of 4 was absolutely delicious, although it was slightly awkward to start cooking with strangers, we quickly established our positions and cooperated really well. It was another skill to learn apart from getting to know new exotic ingredients or de-shell a raw prawn. There was never a shortage of wine and it was nice chatting to people while cooking and eating. The place is a quirky, homely feel house in the middle of city and John and his helpers were very friendly and full of food knowledge, happy to answer any questions. I'd definitely return for another course.
