Introduction to Wine Tasting - Everyone loves wine...
It tastes delicious and gets you drunk! But let's face it, the world of wine can be intimidating. Ever wish someone could break down the basics for you in an easy to understand, unpretentious way? If so, then this is the perfect class for you.
Join wine expert and chef Ryan Smith as you taste your way through 1 sparkling wine, 3 white wines and 3 red wines. During the 2.5 hour wine masterclass, you'll break down the fundamental elements that affect a wine's overall taste - including grape varietals, geography, and the climate of a vineyard.
You will leave understanding what it is you like and don't like about wine and how to describe it to accurately, leaving you confident to reach for the wine list at your next business lunch.
The wine tasting class will include matching light snacks and all the funky ambience you can expect from Food at 52!
Wine Masterclass – A Tour of Italian wines
Italy is one of the world's most diverse wine producing countries. With over 1,400 native grape varietals, twenty wine growing regions and a 2,000-year-old winemaking history, it sound intimidating and confusing. But don't worry, you're in great hands!
Join our wine expert, Ryan Smith, as he takes you on a tour of Italy exploring a wide range of favourite regions and producers. During this interactive 2.5 hour wine masterclass, you will enjoy six different wines alongside regional snacks. Explore how geography, climate, and production methods come together in perfect harmony.

Winemaker's evening - Ultimate food and wine pairing
Join us at Food at 52, London’s most relaxed and intimate cookery school, for a series of winemakers.
Our first dinner join published author and Cult Californian winemaker Birk O'Halloran of Iconic Wine. With only a 400 case production per year, this hard to find wine, has been catching the attention of New York’s top Michelin star restaurants. Working in collaboration with chef and wine expert Ryan Smith, we have created an amazing tasting menu to perfectly complement what critics call "The new standard of California wine". This is an amazing opportunity to have dinner in an intimate setting with one the rising stars of Californian wine making.
Dinner Includes 5 wines and 4 courses.

- SK Chardonnay 2015 to welcome you
- Salad of salt cured golden beets, raw honey, whipped burrata and baby radish served with Heroine Chardonnay 2014
- Seared scallop with tea smoked salmon, rough manilla clams, spring onion puree and crispy American bacon served with Heroine Michael Mara 2014
- Hoisin braised lamb belly with spring peas, fried peanuts and crispy greens with Secret Identity Rose 2016
- Chocolate served 2 ways with raspberry and pistachio served with SK Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

About chef and wine expert Ryan Smith
Ryan has spent the last six years as the Executive Chef and Head Wine Educator of New York Vintners, one of New York's most popular food and wine destinations. Ryan has taught hundreds of wine classes and has an amazing ability to break the complicated world of wine down in a laid back and fun way.
Ryan regularly collaborates with some of the world's best winemakers as well as artists, actors, and musicians to create what he calls "alternative dining experience."
About winemaker Birk O'Halloran
Since their first release in 2010, Iconic's wines have been served in top restaurants across the US. Combined, their wines grace the restaurants of over 25 Michelin stars.
Birk O'Halloran got his start studying for a career in hotel and restaurant at Cornell University and quickly decided that drinking was the best part of the job. After graduating, he continued his training at the International Wine Guild. He went on to open three wine stores in three years, one of which was recognized as one of "The Eight Great Wine Shops Across the US" by Imbibe Magazine. In 2009 Birk joined the founding team of wine importer and distributor, A.I. Selections, managing a national portfolio of over 50 top wineries from seven countries. Inspired by working with so many great winemakers, Birk co-founded Iconic Wine, a Napa, Califiornia based boutique wine company. In 2013 Birk released his first book, Eat Ink Recipes - Stories - Tattoos, published by F&W Media, a full colour cookbook and exploration of tattooed culture in professional kitchens across America.
