We’ve come up with a beginners cookery course designed to nurture even the most novice of cooks through the basics of preparing simple yet impressive dishes. Over the three-week or six-week full course, build your recipe repertoire with dishes that are suitable for an entry level and yet far more inspired than those offered on similar beginners cooking classes. Work with us and watch your skills develop and by the end you’ll be ready to move on to our Kitchen Confidence course in seamless transition.

In the second series of three classes become Kitchen Confident with a more advanced cookery class series. By now you can recreate a recipe and put on a dinner party, but you long to master expert techniques and build on your existing knowledge. You’ll cover indulgent deserts and bold side dishes that will compliment impressive mains and make for epic menus. You’ll know what expert cuisine looks and tastes like and walk away with the confidence to tackle any dish, big or small.

Having several weeks allows you to build a fun camaraderie with fellow cookery students. It is one of our most sociable courses, as you build up skills and pride in your group and individual accomplishments supporting each other along your journey. Take the advantage of being able to practising recipes at home and return to quiz the professional chefs to continually perfect your technique. 

Beginner and Advanced cookery classes are available to buy individually or as a discounted package. Classes can stand alone, but best done in order also the techniques build upon one another.

Kitchen Basics Cooking Classes

Work with us and watch your skills develop and by the end you’ll be ready to move on to our Kitchen Confidence course in seamless transition. Each week will be peppered with tips and techniques to improve your everyday cooking at home.

Part 1

Typical skills you may cover in this class include: making easy stocks for soups, taking the stress out of pan frying fish fillets, cooking the perfect custard from scratch, knife skills with vegetables.

Sample dishes may include:

  • Minestrone soup with pesto verde
  • Pan fried sea bass with provencal lentils
  • Seasonal crumble and custard

Part 2

Typical skills you may cover in this class include: making a basic roux, working with pastry, braising meat and working with delicate egg whites.

Sample dishes may include:

  • Fish pie, green beans and vichy carrots
  • Coq au vin
  • Lemon, lime and ginger mousse

Part 3 

Typical skills you may cover in this class include: taking the flavours further afield and cooking duck just right, removing the guesswork from cooking rice, making pastry, working with chocolate to make the seemingly tricky melting middle chocolate fondant.

Sample dishes may include:

  • Seared five spice duck with Chinese broccoli and egg fried rice 
  • Pancetta and leek tart with paprika and parmesan pastry
  • Molten chocolate fondants

Our hands-on classes include all food, equipment, and free flowing specially selected red and white wine and soft drinks. You will cook around our oak banquet table, followed by enjoying your feast together, finished with tea and coffee.

Kitchen Confidence Cooking Classes

Whether you're moving on with us having completed our Kitchen Basics series or just want to jump right in at a higher level, this course steps things up a gear on the cooking front. You can recreate a recipe and put on a dinner party, but you long to master expert techniques and build on your existing knowledge. You’ll cover indulgent deserts and bold side dishes that will compliment impressive mains and make for epic menus. You’ll know what expert cuisine looks and tastes like and walk away with the confidence to tackle any dish, big or small.

Part 1

Typical skills you may cover in this class include: matching flavours with fish, braising larger pieces of meat and taking presentation up a level.

Sample dishes may include:

  • Cod with fennel puree
  • Braised shoulder of lamb with mint pistou and potato dauphinoise
  • Tarte tatin

Part 2

Typical skills you may cover in this class include: mastering pasta making, giving you the scope to produce your own version of one of the world's favourite dishes and the technical challenges of preparing a Wellington and Normandy pear tart - raising your game significantly.

Sample dishes may include:

  • Butternut squash and biscotti ravioli with a lemon and sage dressing
  • Pork Wellington with vegetables
  • Normandy pear tart

Part 3

Typical skills you may cover in this class include: raising the bar to produce some dishes that will not only further your kitchen techniques, from preparing squid to baking your own soufflés and profiteroles, to leave any lucky dinner guests in awe!

Sample dishes may include:

  • Twice baked thyme and goat's cheese soufflés with apple and walnut salad
  • Risotto negra with squid
  • Profiteroles with orange and cardamom cream filling
